· nail-dystrophy
Nail dystrophy (bad formation) is defined as the presence of misshapen or partially destroyed nail plates. About 50% of nail dystrophies result from fungal infection. The remainder result from trauma, psoriasis, lichen planus, and occasionally cancer.
Half-and-half nails occur with renal failure; the proximal half of the nail is white, and the distal half is pink or pigmented.
